NEPrepBasketball.net’s 2026-27 Guide to the Power 5 AAA Conference

The programs of the Power 5 AAA conference come from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and Ontario. Their facilities, enrollments and histories differ, but they share one mission: develop their players, get them in front of college coaches, and place them on college rosters.

No program can carry out that mission alone. Players get better by competing every night against opponents who are just as hungry, just as talented and chasing the same goal. That’s what the Power 5 AAA provides. Every league game puts college-aspirational players on the same floor, testing each other and pushing each other forward. For a college coach, that means a concentrated pool of motivated prospects who are being challenged and improving.

The Power 5 AAA’s coaching staffs bring a mix of playing backgrounds, college experience and long ties to their programs.

Springfield Commonwealth Academy’s Tony Bergeron enters his 25th season with more than 500 career wins, and he will pass 300 college placements in 2027. Under him, SCA has grown into one of the largest college prep programs in the country. Its five teams compete across the Power 5 and the New England Independent Prep League (NEIPL), with more than 65 college prospects under one roof. That makes SCA a required stop for programs at every level.

At Redemption Christian Academy, Program Director Tristan Wilchcombe has been on the Lions’ staff since 2013 and has coached at every level of the program. A Bahamas native who played at St. John’s College in Nassau, he has built a pipeline of Bahamian talent into Troy. The Post Grad National team is led by Brandon Dominique Ingram, an RCA alumnus and former college player in his second year back with the program.

Great Barrington Academy’s Executive Director and Head Coach Joan Sánchez brings more than 15 years of college, prep and international experience. He was head coach at NCAA Division II Concordia College (NY) and Union County College (NJ), and he coached Marinos de Anzoátegui in Venezuela’s professional league. In the prep world, he helped build the programs at Upper Room Christian School (NY) and Springfield Commonwealth Academy (MA).

Our Saviour Lutheran’s Pete Wehye brings his National Team to the Power 5 AAA after several seasons in Overtime Elite. As OSL’s Athletic Director and Program Director, he built the Bronx program into a national power. It won the 2022 Grind Session World Championship and has sent players such as Precious Achiuwa, Jared Rhoden and Ian Jackson on to college and the pros. He is also head coach of the New York Lightning’s 17U team on the Nike EYBL circuit.
