Great Barrington Academy 2026-27 Player Profiles
Nestled in the beautiful southern region of the Berkshires in western Massachusetts, Great Barrington Academy opened its doors last year, restoring the former Eagleton School campus, an 11-acre property featuring dormitories, a cafeteria, a school building, a full gymnasium, and athletic fields. GBA is providing college-prep academics plus college prep basketball for grades 9-12 and post-grad. It is Christian in orientation with a mission framed around developing "young men of faith."
GBA's Executive Director and Head Coach is Joan Sánchez, an educator and coach whose career has spanned more than 15 years across the college, prep, and international basketball landscapes. Before founding Great Barrington Academy, Sánchez served as head coach at NCAA D2 Concordia College (NY), Union County College (NJ), and in Venezuela’s professional league with Marinos de Anzoátegui. In the prep world, Sánchez helped build programs at Upper Room Christian School (NY) and later Springfield Commonwealth Academy (MA).
Great Barrington Academy runs two teams. One competes in the Power 5 AAA Conference and the other competes in the Power 5 AA Conference. Sanchez head coaches the AAA team, and Tyler Gallery head coaches the AA team. Gallery is the former Ossining High (NY) boys varsity head coach.
