The Hun School of Princeton 2026-27 Player Profiles

The Hun School of Princeton is a private, coeducational boarding and day school located in Princeton, NJ. The school serves students from sixth through twelfth grade plus a post-graduate year. It was founded in 1914 by Dr. John Gale Hun, a Princeton University mathematics professor, and was originally called the Princeton Math School. Hun enrolls roughly 670 students with a 7:1 student-teacher ratio. About 70% of Upper School students are day students, with the remainder boarding, and they come from 15 states and 27 countries.

The school has a long history of successful basketball teams and of placing its players onto college rosters. The boys varsity Raiders compete in the high-level, college-prep Mid-Atlantic Prep League. They also vie annually for a seed in the New Jersey State Open Championship Tournament. Hun takes only two post-graduates per year, a deliberate choice that keeps the roster built around four-year students and preserves the school's academic-athletic balance. The Raiders are coming off a strong bounce-back campaign. After going 9-17 in 2024-25, Hun nearly doubled its win total in 2025-26, finishing 17-10 with a signature 86-59 win over rival Westtown. The season ended with a 59-52 loss to the then #1 nationally ranked Blair Academy in the MAPL semifinals and a 94-88 defeat to nationally ranked College Achieve Asbury Park in the first round of the Prep Open tournament in a game between two Top 25 nationally ranked teams.

The team has been head coached for 26 years by Jon Stone. Coach Stone actually grew up playing hockey before turning to basketball. He starred at Colgate University, graduating in 1992 and setting the school's single-game scoring record with 52 points. He went on to play professionally in Germany, England and Northern Ireland, earned a master's degree, and coached at the University of Rochester before arriving at Hun.

Ben Ayugi (2027) 6’9 center - From Nairobi, Kenya, Ayugi has made significant strides over the past year and is developing into an increasingly impactful two-way player. He brings a physical presence offensively and defensively and consistently impacts possessions through his effort and toughness. One of his more intriguing traits is his ability to catch and play on the move. He has excellent hands and does a very good job securing the ball in traffic or on the run while maintaining the vision and composure to locate open shooters. Ayugi is also a strong rebounder and provides a legitimate presence around the rim. His combination of physicality, timing, and athleticism allows him to compete on the glass, protect the rim, and finish above the rim as a dunker. He continues to show development as a perimeter threat. He has a good shooting stroke and enough range to extend his game to the three-point line. Jackson Cullert (2027) 6’7 wing - From Brooklyn, NY, Cullert is a high level perimeter shooting threat with a rare combination of range, release speed, athleticism, and positional versatility. His jump shot has virtually unlimited range, and his release is among the quickest and smoothest you will find at his level. His athleticism allows him to play above the rim, including finishing alley-oops and attacking the basket for dunks in traffic. He has the ability to put the ball on the floor and finish at the rim. His size, length, and athleticism enabled him to lead the team in rebounding last season, an impressive accomplishment for a perimeter player. Defensively, Jackson offers significant versatility and switch-ability. His size and length allow him to defend bigger forwards, while his quickness enables him to stay with perimeter players. Blake Hargrove (2027) 5’11 point guard (committed to Princeton) - Bethlehem, PA, Hargrove continues to show that he can affect the game in multiple ways. His combination of elite speed, explosive athleticism, strength, and competitive toughness gives him a physical profile that stands out at the position. In the open floor, he is particularly dangerous. He has the speed to create separation in transition and the explosiveness to finish above the rim. His strength and jumping ability allow him to attack bigger defenders, absorb contact, and finish at the basket, including the ability to make plays above the rim in traffic. Defensively he is exceptionally strong and quick on the ball and has the lateral ability to keep opposing guards in front of him. He is an outstanding rebounder for a point guard, adding another valuable dimension to his overall impact. As a facilitator, Hargrove has demonstrated a strong ability to penetrate and collapse defenses before finding open teammates. 

Max Schmid (2027) 6’2 guard - From New Hope, PA, Schmid has made significant strides over the past year and continues to develop into a more complete and dependable perimeter player. He is a strong, physical guard who has the ability to consistently knock down three-point shots. Max is also a capable ballhandler who can reliably advance the ball under pressure and help initiate the offense when needed. Plays club ball with Jersey Force Black.  3.8 gpa  Prospect profile

Julian Van Hoeck (2027) 6’7 forward - From Pennington, NJ, Van Hoeck is an extremely versatile, all-around player who consistently finds ways to impact winning across multiple areas of the game. His value comes from his ability to contribute without needing a high volume of touches. He is an excellent passer with strong court vision and a natural ability to find open teammates. Physically, Van Hoeck has made significant progress with his frame and has developed into a strong, physical presence. That added strength has translated particularly well to his rebounding and low-post play, He provides legitimate positional versatility. He can put the ball on the floor from the perimeter, attack closeouts, and create opportunities off the bounce. This combined with his three point shooting make him a difficult match up. Van Hoeck is one of the team’s best defenders. He can defend on the perimeter, handle bigger matchups in the post, and switch on to any player defensively. Marshall Douglass (2028) 6’6 forward - From Bernardsville, NJ, Douglass is an exceptionally versatile forward whose combination of toughness, mobility, skill, and positional flexibility allows him to impact the game in a variety of ways. He plays with a physical edge and has the strength and competitiveness to defend players bigger than himself, while his quickness allows him to effectively match up with smaller, more perimeter-oriented opponents. Marshall offers a rare combination of interior and perimeter ability. He has a solid low post game and he possesses an excellent shooting touch from three-point range. Douglass’ versatility also extends to the pick-and-roll. He is comfortable operating as the ball handler, but he can also function effectively as the screener. Noam Mirel (2028) 6’0 guard - From Princeton, NJ, Mirel is a steady, fundamentally sound point guard who brings value as both a playmaker and perimeter scoring threat. He has developed into a solid on-ball defender who can apply pressure to opposing guards and compete effectively at the point of attack. Mason Murawski (2028) 6’3 guard - From Avalon, NJ, Murawski is a strong, athletic guard with an intriguing combination of physical tools, shooting ability, and positional versatility. His strength and explosiveness allow him to finish through contact and above the rim, including the ability to attack the lane and dunk in traffic. As a perimeter shooter, Murawski has legitimate range and the ability to stretch the defense well beyond the arc. Defensively, his strength, athleticism, and versatility give him the ability to guard multiple positions.  3.8 gpa  Prospect profile

Jackson Boyd (2030) 6’1” guard - From Millstone Township, NJ, Boyd is a highly intelligent, versatile combo guard who consistently plays the game with pace, poise, and purpose. He has an advanced feel for the game, sees the floor exceptionally well, and understands how to manipulate defenses and direct traffic. His ability to both score and facilitate makes him a valuable piece in multiple offensive roles. Boyd is a terrific shooter and is also an effective downhill scorer. He has the ability to get to the rim, uses his body well, and has the strength and touch to finish over bigger defenders. Defensively, his anticipation and instincts allow him to disrupt offenses and come up with steals. Plays club ball with Team Final.
