Phelps School 2026-27 Player Profiles
Established in 1946, Phelps School is an independent, all-boys, nonsectarian boarding and day school, grades 6-12 plus a post-graduate year. Enrollment is roughly 100 students. Phelps runs a program of dual-credit courses for academically gifted students alongside a comprehensive program for students with learning differences, with explicit ADD/ADHD support.
The Phelps basketball program's per-capita production is remarkable with 88 alumni competing at the NCAA level in the past 12-years from a school of about 100 students. In a four-season stretch they sent eight players to play DI ball. They run two college prep teams, the National team and a Post-Graduate team. The National team competes in the Pennsylvania Independent School Athletic Association (PAISAA). Last year, they advanced to the tournament finals.
For 2026-27, the National team's Associate Head coach Saige Spece has been promoted to take over as Director of Basketball and as head coach of the National team. Coach Spece played D2 ball at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. He took the assistant coach position at Phelps for 2021-2023 and then the Associate Coach role from 2023-2026.

Caden Ivery (2027) 6'5 guard (committed to Cornell) - A big guard that is a high level, ambidextrous athlete. He is elite in transition and a high level defender.
Wol Mangar Chol Maguong (2027) 6'10 forward - Maguong is a massive human with a 7'2 wing span. He is a throwback big, physically imposing and tough for opponents to handle. Projected as a Low Major/Mid Major prospect.
Niu "Nemo" Qisheng (2027) 6'8 forward - Qisheng is a tall, crafty, shooter, who plays as a combo forward. He has really improved and grown up over the summer. Projected as a Low Major/Mid Major prospect.
Julian Price (2027) 6'4 point guard (committed to Bryant) - Price is shifty, high IQ with a lot of game and flare. He gets guys involved and lights up the score board.
Yonan Suleiman (2027) 6'4 wing - From Canada, Suleiman is athletic wing and wired to play basketball. He is capable and will provide whatever the team needs. Projected as a D2 prospect,
Enmanuel Valera Melo (2028) 6'7 small forward Melo's IQ and experience are starting to catch up to his physical talent. He is a high level shooter. Projected as a High Major prospect.
Brandon Martin Jr. (2028) 6'7, 6'11 wingspan, small forward - Martin is versatile with long wingspan. He can impact the game in a variety of ways. He scores, rebounds, and defends multiple positions. Projected as a Mid Major/High Major prospect.
Tim Patton Jr. (2028) LM/MM 6'6 2028 Physical, High Motor 4 man. Board Man gets paid. Athletic 4 that is starting to develop and look more like a 3 without losing his dirty work identity.
Alp Sancakli (2028) 6'5 point guard - From Turkey, Sancakli is a high IQ with great size. He really knows how to play the point. Projected as a Low Major/Mid Major prospect.
Deuce Woodard (2028) 6'4 guard - Woodard is a cool, calm and collected shooter with big time athleticism. A 50-40-90 type of guy. Projected as a Mid Major/High Major prospect.
Barakel Koffi (2029) 6'3 point guard Koffi is an elite passer and creator, gets into the paint at will. He is also a big time on ball defender. Projected as a Mid Major/High Major prospect.
Rikelvin De Leon (2030) 6'7 wing - De Leon is a raw, lengthy young wing with High Major upside.
