Northfield Mount Hermon (MA) 2026-27 Player Profiles
Northfield Mount Hermon is a co-educational college-preparatory school in Gill, MA, educating boarding and day students in grades 9-12 plus post-graduates on a 1,700-acre campus along the Connecticut River.
The men’s basketball program competes in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class AA division. The program has established itself as one of the premier high-academic college basketball feeder programs in the country, with few programs able to match its track record of developing players at the collegiate level. Over the past two decades, the program has produced more than 100 Division I players, including more than 40 who have gone on to compete in the Ivy League.
The team is coached by Mike Shelton. Coach Shelton has an extensive resume in developing talent and leading winning teams, and he has sent many players on to DI and D3 colleges. Aedan Using (2024 University Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year at Brandeis) and Tom Manning are the assistant coaches.

Freddie Bacon (2027) 6'1 point guard - From Colchester, VT, Bacon is a natural scorer and dynamic facilitator. Bacon is increasing his efficiency as a ball handler. He gets to his spots comfortably and uses his speed and quickness to make plays for himself, or others off the pick-n-roll. While in Vermont, Bacon had an incredible sophomore campaign for the Colchester Lakers, averaging roughly 22 ppg, 5 reb, and 5 ast. He possesses a mental toughness far beyond his years. Blake Bastani (2027) 6'5 guard - From Orinda, CA, Bastani is a transfer from New Hampton School (NH). He is an elite shooter out to beyond the college line who plays with unwavering confidence. He has great instincts for hunting shots and finding windows in and out of structure. Bastani possesses the ability to put the ball on the floor to get to spots in the midrange as well. He is looking to have a breakout year in an increased role after recovering from an injury that slowed him during the AAU summer season. Plays club ball with Jalen Green Elite. PH profile
Will Bryson III (2027) 6'4 guard - From Los Angeles, CA. Bryson is a transfer from St. Paul High School in Santa Fe, CA. He posted some of the most impressive statistics in the country last season, averaging over 30 points per game, including a 68-point performance in a triple-overtime victory over Laramie High School. A true three-level scorer and shot-maker, Bryson uses his tight handle to create space and attack the defense with a variety of creative scoring moves. He now looks to showcase his scoring ability and positional size at the NEPSAC AA level this winter. Video Highlights
Ihaka Cate (2027) 6'6 small forward - From Christ Church, New Zealand, Cate is a highly experienced 2027 wing who brings a level of maturity and poise that is uncommon at the high school level. Cate has spent multiple seasons competing with the Canterbury Rams in New Zealand’s NBL, while also representing New Zealand at the FIBA U16 and U17 World Cups. His experience against older, professional competition is evident in his physicality, pace, decision-making, and composure. Cate is a strong left-handed driver who consistently puts pressure on the defense and displays excellent feel as a passer and playmaker. He has also developed into a reliable perimeter threat, giving him the ability to space the floor and punish defenses that help off of him. Defensively, his strength and quickness allow him to guard multiple positions and make an impact across the floor. Jamerson "Jamo" Green (2027) 6'3 shooting guard - From Mansfield Legacy High (TX), where he averaged 15 ppg, 5 rpg, 2 apg, 2 stl, and shot 40% from 3 on 7 attempts per game. Green is a bouncy athlete and a fluid mover capable of playing above the rim. He is comfortable with the ball in his hands and making plays for others. Zayd Leanna (2027) 6'2 guard - From Newburyport, MA. Zayd is a combo guard with the ability to make threes in bunches. He is comfortable shooting from deep and shoots well off the bounce. He has an improving PnR game where he utilizes his physical frame and explosiveness to carve out space to make plays. On the defensive end, Zayd is a strong point of attack defender capable of hounding opposing guards for 94 feet. PH profile
Jackson Lockett (2027) 6’7 power forward - Transferred in from The MacDuffie School (MA), Lockett is a lengthy forward with bounce, rebounding, and switch-ability. Heading into his third season in NEPSAC Class AA. Earned consistent minutes off MacDuffie’s bench during the 2025-26 season. Had 11 points and 2 blocks during a win against Worcester Academy this past year. A hybrid forward with athleticism, toughness, and two-way instincts, Lockett brings rebounding skill on both sides of the court with a developing offensive repertoire. Ryan Rice (2027) 6'1 guard - From Hillsborough, CA. Rice is a left sniper with deep range and a strong frame. Aside from his three point shooting, Rice dominates the intangibles. He possesses a combination of basketball IQ and elite toughness that separates him from similarly sized shooters. He can often be found diving on the floor, grabbing rebounds among the bigs, and battling on defense. These qualities make Rice a coach’s dream and an intriguing 3&D+ prospect.
Kaya Birsen (2028) 6'1 guard – From London, England. A repeat sophomore, Birsen is regarded as one of the top point guards in the country’s 16U divisions. He is a prototypical European point guard with a tight handle, excellent balance, and a strong feel for finding gaps in the defense. Kaya is a true playmaker who consistently keeps his eyes up, reads the defense, and looks to create opportunities for his teammates. He is particularly effective in the pic-n-roll, where he can make a variety of passes to create advantages. He also has the ability to knock down threes and finish at the rim with touch. PH profile
Pall Einnarson (2028) 6'11 forward - From Reykjavik, Iceland. At almost 7 feet, - Einnarson possesses an incredible combination of skill and basketball IQ. He excels operating at the top of the key where he can make passing reads, act as a DHO hub, and punish sagging defenders with his 3 point shooting. In the post, Einnarson is a tough cover. He uses his size to carve out space where he can finish with a variety of touch shots. Defensively, he is a drop defender who uses his size to protect the rim and grab rebounds.
Demetry Gotsoulias (2028) 6'9 forward - From Regina, Saskatchewan, CAN. Gotsoulias has the tools of a prototypical stretch big. A true threat from behind the arc, Gotsoulias poses problems for opposing bigs eager to help in the paint. In transition, his slight frame means that he runs well and frequently gets out ahead of the defense. On the defensive end, Gotsoulias uses his length to bother shots around the rim.
Will Henderson (2028) 6'5 small forward - From London, UK. Henderson’s game begins with his physical frame. At just 16 years old, he is built like a high level college basketball player. The lefty uses this frame to bully defenders to the basket and finish above the rim. He plays with energy and rebounds outside his area. On the defensive end, Henderson can guard multiple positions and has demonstrated an ability to protect the rim. He is comfortable stepping out and making catch and shoot 3s.
Caiden Manning (2028) 6’3 guard – From Windsor, CT, Manning possesses a pure jump shot and is comfortable taking and making shots anywhere on the court. The oldest son of a coach and personal trainer, he possesses a combination of work ethic, maturity, and leadership that separates him from his peers at 17 years old. Manning has improved as an on-ball creator and 3-level scorer. He also takes pride in his defense, using his endurance and quickness to hound guards and fight through screens. Maxxwell Thorpe (2028) 6’10 forward – Top New England prospect watch list by NE Basketball Journal. Thorpe is one of the premier young prospects in New England’s 2028. His combination of size, athleticism, coordination, and physical development gives him tremendous upside at the next level. He is a consistent presence above the rim, finishing lobs with ease, grabbing rebounds at the highest point, and protecting the rim with his length and timing. He has made significant strides in the weight room, adding strength and physicality while maintaining his mobility and explosiveness. A former soccer player, Thorpe has exceptional coordination and footwork for his size and age, allowing him to move comfortably in space and impact the game on both ends of the floor. Chauncey Harlem Brown (2029) 6’1 guard - From Bronx, NY. Brown has a polished skill set and a strong academic profile. Known for his knockdown shooting ability and high basketball IQ, Brown consistently impacts the game on both ends of the floor. He has an advanced understanding of spacing, timing, and decision-making, allowing him to be effective both on and off the ball. This past winter, while playing at The Rectory School (CT), Brown averaged 15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals per game. His production reflects his all-around game, as he scores efficiently, facilitates for his teammates, and defends multiple positions.
