Lawrenceville School, New Jersey's Big Red Machine

Founded in 1810, the Lawrenceville School is a private, coed school for boarding and day students located in Mercer County, NJ, seven miles north of Trenton. It is one of the oldest prep schools in the nation.

It has a competitive varsity basketball program, competing in the Mid-Atlantic Prep League (MAPL) and against a variety of other prep schools in the East. The team's 2025-26 game schedule and results can be seen by clicking here

David Ekhelar (2026) 6'8 forward - Ekhelar is a well-built athlete with incredible athleticism and touch around the basket. Not afraid to step outside and shoot the mid-range and three. His athleticism allows him to sky for rebounds, block shots, and finish above the rim with the best. PH profile

Brian Tassey (2026) 6'6 guard -Tassey is a very poised guard that can score from all three levels. Has a knack for getting other guys involved but is not afraid to create for himself. With very good athleticism and length, Tassey is a match-up nightmare. PH profile

Aiden Li (2026) 6'2 guard -Li is a sturdy forward with the ability to step outside and knock down the open three. Li's senior leadership will be vital to the success of this year's team. 

Michael Esekheigbe (2026) 6'4 small forward -  Esekheigbe is a long forward with sneaky athleticism that allows him to guard positions 1 through 4. He is best when attacking the basket and getting out in transition.

Jayden Lau (2027) 6'3 guard - A heady guard with a NYC edge, Lau is a strong junior point guard with the ability to pass, score at the rim, or well beyond the three point line; his leadership and experience will be crucial for the Big Red. Has received D1 offers, including Sacred Heart and University of Missouri-Kansas City. 3.9 gpa  RTB profile

Santana Hodge (2027) 6'3 guard - Hodge is a deadly shooter with the ability to finish above the rim. Represented the Dominican Republic in the FIBA 16u AmeriCup. This junior has started for the Lawrenceville program since his freshman campaign.  PH profile

Colt Lumpris (2027) 6'8 forward (Committed to Alabama football) -This 4-Star football recruit is a big strong target both on the field and on the block for the Big Red. His physicality, soft hands and touch make him a force in the paint.

Yashesh Shah (2027) 5'8 point guard - Shah is a very capable guard who can stretch the floor and shoot from range. He is a great on-ball defender and brings great leadership to the team.

Colin Ryu (2028)6'3 guard - Ryu is a big guard with tons of potential. In his first season with the team, he has proven to be able to add value on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball

Marque Johnson, Jr. (2028) 6'7 guard - Johnson is a strong guard who has paced the Big Red with his aggression and confidence. A stat sheet stuffer, Johnson gives you points, steals, rebounds, assists, and of course, a few highlight dunks in the process. Has received multiple D1 offers, including Rutgers, LaSalle, Tennessee State and University of San Diego. RTB profile

Tyler Funk (2028) 6'0 guard - Funk is a high-energy young guard, with NYC grit and toughness. He is known to make the right play on the offensive end and be a pest on the defensive end. He brings quality minutes off the bench for the Big Red.

Rowan Connor (2028) 6'3 guard - Connor has been with the varsity program since his freshman year. Still, shy of reaching his athletic ceiling, Connor is a lanky defender with the ability to stretch the defense with the three.

Aidan Early (2028) 6'0 guard - His first year with the varsity program, Early is a young, but very savvy guard and a marksman from well beyond the three-point line.
