George School (PA) 2026-27 College Prospects
Founded in 1893, George School is an independent Quaker boarding and day school located in Newtown, PA, a Philadelphia suburb in Bucks County. The school enrolls approximately 550 students in grades 9-12 on a 265-acre campus, offering the International Baccalaureate program alongside its standard college-preparatory curriculum. The student body is split evenly between boys and girls, with 23 states and 47 countries represented.
The boys basketball program is a college feeder. Alumni have competed at all three NCAA levels, with graduates going on to the ACC, Big Ten, Big East, CAA, Patriot League, and Ivy League, among many others. The team competes in the Friends Schools League (FSL) and for a state playoff seed in the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association (PAISAA).
Chris Harris took over as head coach last season. He arrived from Fordham University, where he served as assistant recruiting coordinator for the men's basketball program. Before Fordham, Harris was assistant athletic director and assistant boys basketball coach at Cristo Rey Philadelphia High (PA). His prep experience includes stops at Woodstock Academy (CT), where he was an assistant coach, and The MacDuffie School (MA). He also coached at Division III Arcadia University. On the grassroots side he has worked with K-Low Elite, the Georgia Stars, and Pro Scholar PSA Cardinals. Harris was a four-year player at Southern Connecticut State.

Frankie Hoynowski (2027) 6’1 guard - 2026 Hoop Group Academic League MVP. A transfer from College Achieve Asbury Park (NJ), Hoynowski is a physical and cerebral guard. Pass-first with the ability to knock down the three from range. An underrated finisher in traffic with a smooth pull-up from midrange. Makes his presence felt defensively with a strong body. Has been offered by Georgian Court (D2). 4.0 gpa RTB profile
Robert Lawrence-Mumford (2028) 6’9 center - Lawrence-Mumford is a new transfer from Early College High (DE) and is still a little raw offensively but makes up for it with athleticism and physical ability. He is blessed with elite length and fluidity for his size, showing natural timing and technique as a shot-blocker within a confined role that's projectable toward the D1 level. He shows flashes of touch offensively both at the rim and out to the midrange, with workable hands and timing while playing off of his guards. Has been offered by Wagner College and is receiving interest from Dartmouth, George Mason, Mount St. Mary’s, Bowling Green and American University. PH profile
MJ Thompson (2028) 6’3 guard - From Council Rock South (PA) repeating his sophomore year, Thompson is starting to come into his own as a player. He is a three-level scorer, projecting as a very good combo guard for a Mid-Major program. He is dynamic, confident, with a bit of flash - but a team-first player before all of that. Thompson has above-the-rim athleticism, and he merged as the go-to player for a CRS team that went 13-6 in District 1 Class 6A play. Has been offered by Wagner College, Albany and Fairfield and is receiving interest from LaSalle, Boston University, Merrimack College, Dartmouth and Drexel. PH profile
Cole Zalewski (2028) 6’5 wing - A transfer from Conwell Egan Catholic High (PA) - Zalewski is one of the best shooters in the PA area but a willing and capable playmaker when the defenses close out on him. He tore his ACL early in the 2024-25 season, and was out roughly nine months. He'd been among Conwell-Egan's scoring leaders when it happened. He should be on a lot of D2 radars in making his comeback. PH profile
