EG3 Preparatory Academy (TX) 2026-27 Player Profiles
EG3 Preparatory Academy is a Houston, TX based college basketball prospect developmental program, founded by Evan Gordon.
Evan is the middle of the three Gordon brothers, between NBA guard Eric Gordon and Eron Gordon, who played Big East basketball at Seton Hall. Evan played high school basketball at North Central High School in Indianapolis, then took a postgraduate year in 2008-09 at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia. He then followed his father, Eric Gordon Sr.'s footsteps and signed at Liberty University. At Liberty, he earned Big South All-Freshman honors (2009-10) and then averaged 14.4 ppg to lead the Flames as a sophomore (2010-11). He transferred to Arizona State and was Herb Sendek's starting point guard (2012-13). He moved on to be a graduate transfer at Indiana University (2023-14). He finished his college career playing in 130 games.
His coaching career includes running combines and coaching national level grassroots youth teams before moving to coach in Shantou, Guangdong, China to be the head coach at Shantou University (2021-23) and where he first launched his EG3 Basketball Academy. In 2024, he reopened the academy in Houston and started the prep team as its head coach last season.
For the 2026-27, EG3 Preparatory Academy will be one of the member teams in the inaugural season of the Post Grad division of the Mid-American Prep League. The roster is profiled below.
Otis Akotegnon (2027) 6'7 wing - From France, Akotegnon was developed through Antibes and Alliance Sport Alsace before competing at Oakville Prep in Canada. A highlight there was Player-of-the-Game performance of 21 points in a 72-71 Oakville victory. His lengthy frame, wing skills and experience across European and North American basketball give college staffs a definite perimeter prospect to consider. Video highlights
Noah Hurtado (2027) 6'4 guard - From Orléans, France, Hurtado has with experience in Fos Ouest Provence's 18u and Espoirs Pro B development environments. He possesses college-caliber backcourt size and a résumé spanning French club basketball and U.S. prep competition. Jammir Major (2027) 6'0 point guard - From Texas, Major is a quick, left-handed lead guard with a deceptive handle, good perimeter shooting and the ability to create clean looks for himself and teammates. Major earned 2026 Big Shots tournament MVP honors, while averaging 25.3 points per game in EG3's divisional championship run. Jamar Thomas Jr. (2027) 6'4 guard - From Bosco Institute (IN), Thomas is a physical and versatile perimeter prospect who combines strength and athleticism with downhill scoring, ball-handling and the ability to defend multiple positions. He can initiate offense or attack from the wing, giving coaches options beyond a traditional scoring-guard role. Elijah Wilson (2027) 5'11 point guard - From Shortridge High (IN), 2025 IBCA Underclass All-State Honorable Mention. At Shortridge, Wilson proved that he was a scorer, averaging 22.3 points per game, and shooting 40.3% from three in 2025-26. Wilson creates offense off the dribble and punishes if given space beyond the arc. His production makes him an appealing to scholarship-level programs seeking perimeter scoring and shot creation. Tysen Woods (2027) 6'3 guard - From Cardinal Ritter High (IN), 2025 Indiana Basketball All-Star Classic junior boys. Woods brings Indiana varsity experience and a background at both shooting guard and small forward to EG3's perimeter group. His size and positional flexibility make him a worthwhile evaluation for scholarship-level programs. Video highlights
Philip Chime (2028) 6'6 forward - From Texas, Chime is a frontcourt prospect with Houston Raptors-3SSB grassroots experience. He combines frontcourt size with national club competition experience. His developmental runway within EG3 makes him a prospect for college staffs to track early on their future scholarship boards. Video highlights
Marqua Curtis (2028) 6'9 power forward - From Indianapolis Metropolitan High (IN), Curtis is a frontcourt prospect out of EG10 (Evan Gordon's grassroots program). Curtis produces on the glass, including a 12-point, 15-rebound double-double in a varsity win. His size and rebounding production provide a tangible foundation for college staffs seeking an emerging interior scholarship prospect. Video highlights PH profile
Kymai Sands (2030) 6'7 forward - From The Bahamas, Sands' size makes him an intriguing early name. Sands will be benefiting from a long development window at EG3, playing with and against mostly post grads, giving evaluators motive to follow his progress as a long-range scholarship prospect.
