Dynamic Prep’s FaZe Reloads for a Title Defense

Overtime Elite (OTE) launched in 2021 as something new: a pro-style league for high school-aged players, run out of its own arena in Atlanta. It paid players salaries at first and was among the first to encourage them to land name, image and likeness (NIL) deals. That model proved hard to sustain. OTE moved to scholarships in 2022 so players could keep their college eligibility, and it has steadily moved toward a more traditional league, much more like, say, the Elite Prep League (EPL) or the New England Basketball League (NEBL). This season it no longer runs its own teams; its eight teams are prep programs from across the country, most playing under OTE team names rather than their school names.

Through every change, OTE has fielded some of the strongest teams and players in the national prep and post grad field. Its earlier years produced NBA lottery picks Amen and Ausar Thompson, Alex Sarr and Rob Dillingham, and 25 OTE alumni played in the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

The evolution of OTE is why, for the first time, every OTE team is part of the National Prep Team Computer Rankings. OTE teams now play enough games against the rest of the rankings pool that the computer can measure how they stack up. Last year, as an experiment, the National Prep Team Computer Rankings staff ran OTE's teams through the rankings for about a month, and their average team ranking landed right with, if not slightly above, the EPL's and the NEBL's.

In OTE, Dynamic Preparatory High School (Dynamic Prep) of Irving, TX plays as FaZe. Former NBA star Jermaine O'Neal, Neal, a six-time All-Star, founded Dynamic Prep in 2022 and is its head coach. Rather than start a team from scratch, FaZe Clan, the gaming and esports brand, sponsored Dynamic Prep when it joined OTE in 2025.

The program won Texas Christian Athletic League 6A state titles in 2023 and 2024. In its first OTE season, FaZe won both the 2025-26 regular-season title and the OTE championship, sweeping the Cold Hearts 4-0 in the Finals. Seven Spurlock was named Finals MVP after scoring 27 points in the clinching 100-85 win. Nine players from that title roster signed with DI programs. Program alumni include Marcus Spears Jr. (Texas), Dakari Spear (Texas Tech), Austin Goosby (Texas) and Spurlock (Oregon).

FaZe carries no post grads or fifth-year players, which keeps Dynamic Prep eligible for the Chipotle Nationals high school championship.

O'Neal's staff includes associate head coach Bonzi Wells, a former NBA guard, and assistant coaches Ed Daniels and Manny (Emmanuel) Calton.

This season FaZe opened its title defense 2-0, beating the Cold Hearts 78-71 and Fear of God 96-73 on October 23. Its full 2026-27 OTE conference schedule and results are linked at the bottom of this article.

Below we profile the team's 2026-27 roster.

David Baliraine (2027) 6'9 215 lb, power forward - From Hallsville, TX, Baliraine may not always dominate the scoring column, but his impact on winning has become impossible to ignore. He consistently protects the rim, rebounds at a high level, defends physically and embraces the dirty work every successful team needs. College coaches value players who understand their role while consistently producing, and Baliraine delivers exactly that. His performances have made him another frontcourt prospect worthy of serious Division I attention. This past summer, Baliraine was a key member of one of the greatest underdog runs in Peach Jam history, a run that went all the way to the championship game, averaging 10 points, 8 rebounds and 3.4 defensive stocks per game. With a strong senior season at Dynamic Prep, he could find his way into the national top 150. Plays club ball with Drive Nation. PH profile

Kendall Booker (2027) 6'9 185 lb, forward - From Stone Mountain, GA, Booker is a problem for opponents. He is long, with the soft touch and skills of a small guard. He runs the floor well and hits the glass hard, and he will be a nice player at the next level. Plays club ball with AE5. Video highlights

Kaiden Eason (2027) 6'6 180 lb, forward - From Dallas, TX, Eason is the prototypical two-way wing who forces offenses to rethink how they initiate. Already recognized among the state's best multi-positional defenders, he can contain guards in space, slide onto bigger wings, and still contest at the rim when help arrives late. Chase-down blocks, early rotations, and active hands in the passing lanes create extra possessions before the highlight finish even shows up. Offensively he thrives attacking downhill, finishing through contact, and spacing just enough to punish rotations when defenses sag. Continuing to tighten perimeter consistency only expands how often he can live as a primary closer. Eason's blend of elite defensive instincts, athletic tools, and transition impact gives him one of the cleanest two-way wing translations in the Texas 2027 class. Plays club ball with Dallas Mustangs. PH profile

Payton Jones (2027) 6'3 185 lb, guard - From Beaumont, TX, Jones splashes in triples at a high rate. He's definitely someone defenders need to keep tabs on when he's left unmarked, but he also possesses good poise and the ability to knock down more difficult looks. Defensively he's a disruptive athlete who flies around the court and applies good ball pressure. Plays club ball with Gulf Coast Blue Chips. PH profile

Jesse Mutombo (2027) 6'3 170 lb, guard - From Fort Worth, TX, Mutombo controls the paint with points, rebounds, and strong interior defense. He battles on every possession, protects the rim when needed, and provides consistent physicality inside. His willingness to do the dirty work allows teammates to thrive offensively. Mutombo continues to bring toughness every time he steps on the floor. PH profile

Howard Williams (2027) 6'6 210 lb, forward - From Chicago, IL, Williams is a high-level floor spacer and elite movement shooter who excels in both the half-court and transition game. Williams showcases outstanding footwork, quickly getting his feet set from a variety of movement actions before flowing into a rapid release with a high follow-through and exceptional elevation, creating one of the smoothest catch-and-shoot motions in the gym. As a ball-handler, Williams consistently creates advantages through advanced pace control, tight dribbles, change-of-speed, use of counters that generate separation for pull-up jumpers, mid-range turnarounds, and powerful downhill drives. Plays club ball with Team Haliburton. PH profile

Benji Berrouet (2028) 6'8 234 lb, forward - From McKinney, TX, Berrouet's stature, bounce, and feel for the game immediately stand out. He's more agile than he might appear, and he's a difficult player for defenders to slow down once he sets his mind on scoring. On the defensive end, he holds his ground well, using his size, strength, and length to make life difficult for opposing players. He also does a good job of contesting shots on a consistent basis and making his presence felt around the basket. Plays club ball with AB Elite. PH profile

Blaze Johnson (2028) 6'6 195 lb, guard - From Grayson, GA, Johnson's ability to change direction with control and attack gaps gives him a clear advantage. His athletic burst has always stood out, and he continues to use it to create advantages as a scorer. Projects as a scoring guard with the versatility to handle combo guard responsibilities. Powerful downhill attacker who can get to his left and create pressure at the rim. Plays club ball with Atlanta Celtics. PH profile

Ansar Kussainov (2029) 5'11 150 lb, guard - From Astana, Kazakhstan, Kussainov is a rising young talent who is making a name for himself in America playing for FaZe and on the grassroots circuit. Known for his high upside and international pedigree, he has established himself as an exciting guard to watch in the class of 2029. He has represented Kazakhstan in FIBA 3x3. Plays club ball with Drive Nation EYBL.

Koi Wilkins (2029) 6'0 145 lb, guard - From Memphis, TN, Wilkins is one of the top players in the class of 2029, with a superb handle and the ability to get to the rim. He capitalizes on his catch-and-shoot opportunities, thanks to his textbook form. He also plays smart team defense. Plays club ball with Drive Nation EYBL. PH profile

Thaddeus "TJ" Young Jr. (2029) 6'4 170 lb, guard - From Frisco, TX, Young is a long, dynamic shooting guard who is versatile and skilled enough to slide in as a forward whenever needed. He can shoot the three-ball with impressive accuracy, and he's constantly communicating with teammates, directing traffic and offering help. He has a great knack for identifying where plays are going as they develop, setting himself and his teammates up with solid looks at the rim. He is the son of 17-year NBA veteran Thaddeus Young. Plays club ball with Team Thad. PH profile

Cooper Wells (2030) 6'6 230 lb, guard - From Houston, TX, Wells, at 15, is the youngest player on the roster, and he's already a big 6'6", 230-pound guard. Making a FaZe roster this strong at his age clearly makes him one to watch over the next couple of years.
