College Prospects in the New England Basketball League

College coaches will generally tell you that the New England prep school basketball realm is generally the most prolific source of college basketball talent on the planet. The history and the proximity of comparable opponents in the region has created a hot bed of college basketball preparation and exposure opportunities.

The New England Basketball League is a conference formed in 2019 by some of the most prestigious, talent-loaded prep school programs in the region. All of the member teams make the effort to play the highest level of competition, and by being in the NEBL just makes that effort more emphasized. The member teams are Brimmer & May School, CATS Academy Boston, Cushing Academy, Darrow School, New Hampton School, Newman School National, Putnam Science Academy and South Kent School. The 2023-24 national prep school computer rankings had Putnam Science as the #1 prep team in the nation, and the rest of the NEBL all made the Top 100.

Last year, incredibly, the New England Basketball League included the top five computer ranked prep teams in the nation, #1 Putnam Science, #2. Newman School, #3. Cushing Academy, #4. New Hampton School and #5 CATS Academy Boston National (MA). Now, 2025-26, they added another national powerhouse in Darrow School.  Darrow finished as the #7 ranked team in the nation last year.
