2026-27 Dexter Southfield School College Prospects
The Dexter Southfield School is an independent co-educational day school located in Brookline, MA, educating students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. It was founded in 1926 as the Dexter School. In 2013 the Dexter School merged with the sister school Southfield School to form Dexter Southfield. Dexter was attended by Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. and the 35th president of the United States, John F. Kennedy, along with other notable figures.
Their boys basketball program is a college basketball feeder program. The four values the team discusses daily are competition, consistency, communication, and care. Dexter's goal is to run a college-level program that will prepare their student-athletes for a seamless transition to collegiate play. The varsity team vies annually for a seed in the New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class A tournament.
The team is coached by former Babson College assistant coach, Matt Droney. His 2026-27 roster is again stocked with the college prospects as profiled below.
Malik Adamson (2027) 5'11 point guard (committed to Siena in July) - 2025-26 All NEPSAC A and 2024-25 ALL-NEPSAC Honorable Mention. His tenacity, aggression, and leadership allow him to affect the game in a multitude of ways on offense and defense. He is terrific at attacking the paint in transition and half court situations, with or without a ball screen and forces the defense into rotation situations. One of the most physical and disruptive defenders you will see. He is a great point of attack defender, gets deflections off the ball, and defensive rebounds extremely well for a point guard. Plays club ball with Middlesex Magic UAA.
Eyzaiah Grant (2027) 6'0 guard - Offensively, Grant does a terrific job playing without the ball - relocates to open space and his cutting adds much value to a halfcourt offense. Zay does a good job attacking long closeouts and playing on balance in the lane. He is a rangy defender that gets deflections and contributes as a defensive rebounder. He is improving athletically and has started to affect the game in transition. Plays club ball with Middlesex Magic. 2.9 gpa
Liam Kilroy (2028) 6'6 forward - Kilroy had a fantastic first season at Dexter in a reserve role in 2025-26. The lefty forward has an elite compete level and his desire to rebound the ball translates to the college game right now. Matias Popma (2028) 6'5 small forward - Popma has worked incredibly hard to turn himself into a college prospect. Offensively, he can shoot the ball, play inside and out, and score effectively around the basket. Defensively, he can guard multiple positions, has a great IQ, and rebounds the ball with intensity.
Thomas Quinlan (2028) 5'11 guard - Quinlan has proven his ability to score at the NEPSAC level over the last three seasons at Roxbury Latin. His game will translate immediately to Class A where his scoring, toughness, and intangibles on both ends will positively impact Dexter's team. NERR profile
Lucas Short (2028) 6'4 wing - From North Quincy High (MA). He is an above average 3 point shooter, and he will make them in bunches, both off the catch and off the dribble. His high and quick release will translate well to the college level. Elite vertical athlete with long arms that finishes effortlessly around the basket. Defensively, his length and athleticism allow him to guard different positions. Plays club ball with Middlesex Magic. NERR profile
Cainan Weeresinghe (2027) 6'3 wing - Unfortunately, Weeresinghe is sidelined with a torn ACL that will keep him out until the start of 2027. However, his play as a junior has solidified his recruitment at the high academic D3 level. He provides shooting, connectivity, and high IQ on the offensive end. Defensively, he guards multiple positions and rebounds well for the wing spot. 4.0 gpa
Jack Riordan (2028) 6'3 wing - Riordan is currently out with a torn ACL but started 26 games for Dexter in 2025-26. A standout athlete in multiple sports, there is no doubt that Riordan will have a strong return to Dexter's program and continue to add to winning in a multitude of ways. PH profile
Will White (2028) 5'10 point guard - 2024-25 Boston City League MVP for Boston Latin School. This lefty has a fantastic feel for the game and makes the game easier for his teammates. Consummate point guard that breaks down the defense and finds the best advantage for his team. Good 3 shooter off the catch and off the dribble. Defensively, he has good instincts that allow him to make good help-defense reads. Plays club ball with Middlesex Magic 15u UAA. NERR profile
Jonathan Joseph (2029) 6'4 wing - Joseph comes to Dexter via Bedford High School. Great combination of length, strength, and athleticism for 15 years old. Emerging skill set offensively that can play from a variety of places on the floor. Currently, his defensive versatility is his biggest strength as he can guard multiple positions and rebound the ball at a high percentage.
Clervens Peltrop (2029) 6'4 guard - Peltrop comes to Dexter via Brockton High (MA). He has the ability to be a scholarship level guard - the combination of length, athleticism, ball handling, and shot making should serve him well in the NEPSAC. Extremely high compete level on both ends of the floor. The compete level coupled with his work ethic should allow him to continue to develop. Played 16U Expressions EYBL. PH profile
Trevor Gardner (2030) 6'1" guard - Gardner will be a first year at Dexter after a successful freshman season at Xaverian Brothers in the MIAA. For a freshman, Gardner has elite physical tools that translate right away with his athleticism and length at the guard position. Ben Lee (2029) 6’9 forward -- From Burlington High (MA), while still developing, he has a 3 point shot at that will serve him well. He sees the floor offensively and works incredibly hard on a daily basis to improve. Lee’s work ethic will allow him to continue to develop. Middlesex Magic 15 UAA. NERR profile
Cam O’Connor (2029) 6’0 guard - O’Connor was on Dexter’s varsity team as an 8th grader and will continue to ascend. His ability to make shots is elite for his class. Both off the catch and off the dribble, his shot making is impressive.
