YNG Dreamerz Vying to be the Nation's Best Prep Team
In 2021, Overtime, a sports media company, launched the Overtime Elite professional basketball league for high school basketball players and international players between the ages of 16–19. Initially, players received a minimum salary of $100,000 annually, a signing bonus, and shares in Overtime's larger business. After the first season, the league shifted to a scholarship model so players could maintain their college eligibility. The players can still make money off of their name, image and likeness (NIL) if they choose.
Athletes participate in an academic program featuring a 4:1 student-teacher ratio and a curriculum offering traditional high school subjects alongside life skill-related subjects in financial literacy, social media and other media training, and mental health and wellness. Overtime Elite built a 103,000 square-foot facility, OTE Areana in Atlanta, GA where players train, study, and compete. The building has three NBA regulation-sized courts that can seat up to 1,300 spectators.
For the 2025-26 season, the league consists of nine teams. They started their league play on October 22, with most of those games being played in the OTE Arena in Atlanta, but also with some being played in Dallas, TX, Fort Lauderdale, Fl and Phoenix, AZ.
