St. George’s School (RI) 2026-27 Player Profiles
Founded in 1896 by an Episcopal minister, St. George’s School, at a time when Rhode Island had no tax-funded high schools, is a private, Episcopal, coeducational day and boarding school. It sits on a spectacular location on a hill overlooking the Atlantic, in a suburb of Newport. It serves grades 9-12, with an enrollment of 402.
St. George’s basketball program is currently one of the best programs in New England. Last year they finished computer ranked as the #8 team in the nation. They compete in the Independent Schools League (ISL) and vie for a seed in the New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class AA division post season tournament. Last year, St George's went undefeated 15-0 in the ISL, earning their second consecutive league championship and lost a close one in the NEPSAC tournament's Final Four.
Dwayne Pina is the head coach. As a player, Pina played Big East ball at Boston College, starting as a walk-on before earning a scholarship. His coaching path includes assistant roles at Rhode Island College, Bryant University and Brown University before taking the job at St George's School in 2016. He has put the program on a steady climb, and has developed impressive talent, which includes Tyler Kolek who went on to play for Marquette and is now a current guard for the NBA Champion, New York Knicks.

Otis Crosby (2027) 6’4 shooting guard - From Barrington, RI, Crosby is a wing with good size whose greatest strength is his ability to shoot the basketball. He has a high IQ and a great feel. Jelani Middleton (2027) 6’5 wing (committed to Brown University) - 2025-26 All Independent School League Honorable Mention. From Westchester, NY, Middleton is a smooth wing; capable of scoring on all three levels. Effortlessly plays the game. Great size for his position. Plays club ball with the NY Rens-EYBL. High gpa
Ethan Njenga (2027) 6’2 point guard - 2025-26 All NEPSAC AA Honorable Mention. 2025-26 All Independent School League Honorable Mention. A Jack-of-all-trades who plays with a chip on his shoulder. Impacts the game on both sides of the floor. Has a relentless motor and a nose for the ball. Great offensive rebounder for his size; scores in transition, capable 3pt shooter, and exceptional mid-range game. Patriot League-level student and talent with an offer from Navy. Adriel Cantave (2028) 6’3 point guard - Top New England prospect watch list by NE Basketball Journal. 2025-26 All Independent School League Honorable Mention as a sophomore. #6 ranked player in New England by Prep Hoops. From Carver, MA, Cantave is a lightning-quick point guard with great size for his position. He has the ability to affect games on both sides of the court. Chance Finlayson (2029) 6’7 wing - 2025-26 All NEPSAC AA Honorable Mention as a freshman. 2025-26 All Independent School League Honorable Mention as a freshman. #1 ranked prospect in New England by Prep Hoops. From Newport, RI, Finlayson is physically imposing at a young age, with perimeter skills that are scary at times. He is a big-time athlete in a man's body. Pierluca Ferdinand (2028) 6’7 wing - From New Jersey, Ferdinand is a long player with huge upside. He is a skilled perimeter player who is already drawing Mid Major interest at this point. Has been offered by Lasalle and East Carolina. PH profile
Atlas Hammoud (2028) 6’2 guard - From Toronto, CAN, Hammoud has put in three years as a varsity player and is showing emerging skills. He shows good decision-making in the half-court offensive game and good game pace management instincts. He has also proven his ability to defend varsity level guards.
Roman Allen (2029) 6’4 wing - From Detroit, MI, Allen made a name for himself this summer playing on the EYBL 15u circuit playing with The Family. He has D1 potential.
Ege Cakmakkaya (2029) 6’7 small forward - From the United Kingdom, Cakmakkaya is a skilled forward whose game clearly has an international feel. He is an average athlete but utilizes his skill, IQ, and feel to be productive.
Burke Lombardi (2029) 6'1 guard - From Nantucket, MA, Lombardi is a two sport athlete (football/quarterback). He is shooter who possesses a high IQ.
