High Potential NEPSAC 2030's

There are a number of high potential Class of 2030 student athletes planning to play high level NEPSAC basketball in the upcoming winter season. Below are profiles on some of those players.

Will Akason (2030)’ 6’7 forward, Greens Farms Academy (CT) - Akason  is a big, physical player with tremendous upside, he brings the versatility of both a guard and a forward with a dynamic skill set that impacts the game in multiple ways. A true three-level scorer, he shoots the three at a high level, finishes with strength and touch around the rim, excels in transition, and is more than capable of scoring with his back to the basket. His combination of size, skill, and offensive versatility makes him a difficult matchup for defenders at every level of the floor. Beyond his size and skill, he plays with an edge- bringing toughness, physicality, and a competitive mindset that elevates everyone around him. He competes every possession and plays the game with confidence and intensity. Still growing and continuing to develop, he has all the tools to become a major impact player, and his best basketball is still ahead of him.

William Biney (2030) 7-1 forward, Springfield Commonwealth Academy (MA) - Biney is a young and raw southpaw from Ghana. Though still learning the game, he already has a good shooting touch. He has good hands and good touch around the basket. He is a rebounder.

KJ Creer Jr. (2030) 6’0 point guard, Noble and Greenough School (MA) - Creer is a quintessential point guard that plays the game with flair and a joy that is infectious to his teammates. He is lightning quick with the ball on a string, very good floor vision, and a jumpshot that is growing by the day. Defensively he is a pest on the ball, while still having a good understanding of all ball concepts and help schemes. Type of player that does whatever his team needs to win that game. As he continues to mature physically, Creer will be a high level college basketball player. One word to describe KJ is: WINNER. Plays club ball with Team New England.

Kenneth Cheatham (2030) 6’2, 150lb small forward, Storm King School (NY)

Justin Frye (2030) 6’2 guard, The Rivers School (MA) - High IQ combo guard who’s one of the elite shooters for his age in the country. Uses the gravity of his shooting to attack closeouts and create advantages for his teammates. Strong communicator who plays with a relentless motor and rebounds well for his position on both ends of the floor. Uses his length well to corral and deter drives defensively. Plays club ball with Expressions Elite 8th grade-EYBL.

Luke Gellert (2030) 6’1 guard, Noble and Greenough School (MA) - Gellert is a tough left-handed guard who brings both energy and an edge to the game. He is capable of stretching the floor with his perimeter shooting and doesn’t need much time to get it off. Brings relentless energy on defense, playing bigger than his size, and he embraces the physicality with no hesitation to do the dirty work. A two-sport varsity athlete while also playing soccer, Luke’s motor and energy constantly standout. Plays club ball with Middlesex Magic.

Khaleel Guthrie (2030) 5’7, 140lb point guard, Storm King School (NY) 

Austin Huckaby (2030) 6’2 guard, Masters School (NY) - High-level prospect with real DI upside. Smooth, fluid, and explosive with natural scoring instincts. True 3-level threat who can create his own shot, finish above the rim, and stretch the floor. Advanced for his age with a polished mid-range package and the ability to finish comfortably with his left. Impacts the game beyond scoring—active, engaged, and plays with a motor that separates him. High academic prospect with a ceiling that’s extremely high and trending up fast. Plays club ball with NY Rens 14u-JR EYBL. 

Ricky Hurley-Bea (2030) 6’3 forward/guard, Noble and Greenough School (MA) - Hurley-Bea is a strong off-guard/wing that plays both sides of the floor at a high level and already possesses a scholarship level frame. Offensively, he has quickly developed into an above average catch and shoot 3 shooter,and is one of the best offensive rebounders in the league. His triple threat and off the dribble game are developing rapidly. Defensively he is EXCELLENT. His versatility is unusual, comfortable being able to guard 1-4. Is always in a stance, moves his feet like a defensive back, and is strong enough to chest-up on drives. BIG-TIME recruit. Plays club ball with Expressions.

Tekeye Ivey-Jones (2030) 6’4, 170lb, wing, St Andrews School (RI) - From Pawtucket, RI Ivey-Jones is a terrific young prospect. He shoots the ball really well and is a hard-nosed defender.

Junior Jean-Philippe (2030) 5’10 point guard, Rivers School (MA) - Jean-Philippe was a major standout at Waltham High (MA) this past winter as a freshman. He has reclassed and transferred to Rivers. The lefty is quite shifty with the rock in his hands and does a great job getting to the rack and finishing but is also a very solid pull-up jump shooter. When the defense collapses on him, he has no problem making simple plays for his teammates and being unselfish. Jean-Phillipe also competes hard on the defensive end and should only continue to improve as a result of playing at a higher level. Plays club ball with the Middlesex Magic. 

TJ Jordan (2030) 6’0 point guard, Noble and Greenough School (MA) - A “throwback” pass-first point guard who will possess great positional size as he continues to grow into his frame. TJ’s basketball IQ is one of the highest in the region, allowing him to direct traffic and be an extension of the coach on the floor. His skillset is high and consistently growing, using either hand to get down hill and finish around the rim or the foul line area. His standstill jumpshot has continued to improve, and we are now starting to see the results. Defensively he is a rock. Talks, competes, and blocks out EVERY PLAY. High level recruit. Chase Lezama (2030)  6'4 guard | Brimmer & May (MA) -Lezama, from Boston, MA, is a young guard with excellent size and natural instincts. He shoots the ball comfortably from beyond the arc and is a strong finisher around the rim. Chase shows advanced vision for his age and plays with confidence, while also competing on the defensive end and not shying away from physical play. As he continues to develop, he projects as a high-upside player. He is expected to contribute as a rotational piece for Brimmer as a freshman while gaining valuable experience at the NEPSAC level. Amir Mickens (2030) 6’0 guard, Greens Farms Academy (CT) - A special, super-talented guard who can truly do it all, he impacts the game in every facet with his athleticism, skill set, and competitiveness. Dynamic offensively, he plays above the rim and finishes through contact with strength and explosiveness, while also showing the craft and body control to score creatively in traffic. He shot over 40% from three and possesses a tremendous mid-range game, making him a true three-level scoring threat who is difficult to contain. In addition to his scoring ability, he handles the ball with confidence and is at his best in transition where his speed, athleticism, and instincts allow him to take over games. Defensively, he is tough, competitive, and capable of guarding opposing guards with intensity and effort. With his natural talent, work ethic, and continued development, he is just scratching the surface of what he is capable of becoming.

Enrique Perez (2030) 5’9 point guard, Worcester Academy (MA) - Perez is a very shifty ball handler with excellent touch at the rim. He displays a strong feel on both ends. Perez consistently makes the right play and disrupts opponents on defense with quick hands and anticipation. He is a comfortable and confident shooter off the bounce. He combines athleticism and playmaking with intriguing potential as a point guard. Plays club ball with Expressions Elite. 3.0 gpa  Video highlights

Alden Poage (2030) 6 '7 wing, The Rivers School (MA) - Lanky wing who’s a strong 3 point shooter with an expanding off the dribble game. Uses his length well to both protect and finish around the rim. Still growing into his frame. His combination of positional size, length, and skill makes him an intriguing and high-level, long-term prospect to watch. Plays club ball with Team New England 15u-Pro16.  PH profile

Aiden Richard (2030) 5’11 point guard, Brooks School (MA) – Transferred from Tewksbury Memorial where he earned Merrimack Valley Conference Second Team honors as a freshman. An electric, high-upside lead guard, who plays with pace, confidence, and a natural feel for the game. Scores it from all 3 levels and is equally impactful as a playmaker. Breaks down defenders and makes the right reads. Brings a competitive edge on the defensive end, both on-ball and in the passing lanes. Plays club ball with Mass Rivals. Tyler Rundell (2030) 6'3 shooting guard, Milton Academy (MA) - Rundell will provide firepower from beyond the arc for MA while trying to develop other parts of his game.  He is a student of the game and a gym rat, with this combination we should see him grow in so many ways here as a player.  

TiErry Smith (2030) 5’10 point guard, Millbrook School (NY) - After a stellar first year campaign as an with the Mustangs, Smith established himself as one of the most promising young point guards in the NEPSAC. Playing meaningful minutes in every game he was available for, the lefty consistently showcased his high basketball IQ, poise, downhill ability, defensive toughness, and fearless approach. After last season, Smith decided to be a repeat freshman, allowing him additional time to continue development. With his combination of feel, competitiveness, playmaking ability, and room for continued growth, college coaches will want to keep an eye on his progress. Matthew Tartufo (2030) 6 '2 wing, The Rivers Schools (MA) - A multisport athlete, he is a good shooter from 3 with a quick trigger and deep range. He uses his solid frame to be a factor on the glass, and is solid defensively. Plays club ball with Middlesex Magic.
