2027-28 The Hill School Features High Level Scholar-Athletes
The Hill School, founded in 1851, is a four-year private, coeducational, preparatory boarding school located on a 200-acre campus in Pottstown, PA, about 35 miles northwest of Philadelphia. Hill is one of the top academic prep schools in the country.
In athletics, The Hill School is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Prep League (MAPL) is a charter member of the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association (PAISAA). The boys varsity basketball team competes during the regular season for seeding in those two post-season championship tournaments. This past March, they won the 2026 PAISAA title. They ended the season as the #35 ranked team in the nation.
The team is head coached by Seth Eilberg in his 26th year at the helm. The Associate head Coach is Phil Canosa in his 16th year, and those two are assisted by Marques Green, and Drew Placeres.
Many high academic colleges make a priority of scouting The Hill School talent each year, and this year's team, as profiled below, will continue to feed that trend.
Tom Diomedi (2027) 6’5 guard - From Montclair, NJ, Diomedi is a fundamentally sound basketball player and under-control scorer who gets to his spots with smooth pace, He has an efficient and versatile scoring attack, with good body control and sound footwork. He has a back to the basket game, utilizes jump stops and step-throughs to bait defenders, and he gets to the free throw line. Steven Moore (2027) 6’9 forward - From Dalton, PA - Moore scores through contact inside and finishes from the dunker spot. Moore was effective as a rim runner. He converted free points at the foul line. He has nice timing going up to contest shots. Michael Thompson (2027) 6’5 guard - From Erie, PA, Thompson is a threat to knock down shots from behind the arc and can't be left open. He also can make the extra pass and find others. Thompson was able to put the ball on the deck after securing the rebound. He finds a body to box when around the bucket as a defender. He connects with his post players using a bounce pass when the defense collapses onto him. He finds ways to be in the right spots on the floor. Cole Trn (2027) 6’3 guard - From Shippensburg, PA, Trn is known for his ability as a threat from behind the arc. He also has the ability to play on the ball and find teammates for scoring chances and is a good finisher. Trn plays above his size and with a nose for the ball. King Savior (2028) 6’8 wing, 7'1 wing span - From Middletown, DE, repeating his junior year after moving up from Middletown (DE), Savior projects as arguably the most important piece to the puzzle if Hill has plans to repeat as PAISAA state champs. A versatile wing forward who was regarded as the top 2027 prospect in Delaware, he shows all the tools of a future high-level college prospect. Savior is comfortable operating on the perimeter as both a ballhandler and shooter while also possessing the size and athleticism to make an impact around the rim on either end of the floor. Eyan Valadez (2028) 6’1 guard - From Long Island, NY, Valadez has the IQ and efficiency that impacts the game on or off the ball. He makes the most of his open looks from deep. He runs the floor wide and with purpose when he isn't leading the break himself. He provides a steady presence and is able to get his team in the half court set while handling ball pressure. Drew Naegle (2029) 6’5 guard - From Radnor, PA, Naegle has versatility. He is a shooter that can also mix it up in the paint and affect the game at the defensive end of the floor with help-side shot blocking. Naegle also impacts the game on the glass to extend possessions and is an effective passer from all 3 levels to find cutters and shooters. He has the ability to cover ground defensively and is able to switch onto guards or bigs effectively.
