2026-27 Milton Academy is Impressive
Milton Academy is a prestigious co-educational, independent, and college-preparatory boarding and day school in Milton, Massachusetts, educating students in grades K–12. Their Upper School educates a roughly even mixture of boarding and day students. Milton's list of notable alumni includes Nobel laureate T. S. Eliot, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.
Milton Academy boys’ basketball program is also impressive, recently celebrating over 100 years of tradition. Competing in the Independent School League (ISL), one of the nation’s high-talent prep circuits, the Mustangs have solidified their reputation as a premier New England powerhouse. The team also vies for a seed in the highly competitive New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) A Division (large school) tournament, winning it last in 2023. For the 2025–2026 season, where a young and resilient squad matured quickly to finish 17–8, earning the 4th seed in the NEPSAC playoffs. Whether competing on the iconic parquet of the Boston Garden for the Andrew James Lawson Foundation Invitational or breaking school records for wins and defensive efficiency, the program continues to set a gold standard for excellence.
The team is head coached by Lamar Reddicks—a Milton Hall of Fame alum, with 18 years at the Academy following a coaching career at Harvard and Boston University. His program is built on the motto: “Surround yourself with good people and great things happen.” Coach Reddicks and his staff focus on molding the team into a family, teaching players to navigate both the victories and the setbacks of the game and life.

Reece Ayala (2027) 6'4 point guard - #15 ranked player in New England by Prep Hoops. #5 ranked prospect in New Hampshire by NERR. 2024-25 All Independent School League First Team at Milton Academy. Ayala is about as explosive of an athlete that you will find. He can get downhill with the best of them. He is also a top notch defender that can cover multiple positions. He is quick enough to cover small guards and strong enough to cover bigger guards. Ayala is capable of rebounding at a high level from the guard position and also has the court awareness to get others involved on the offensive end. His versatility on both ends of the court will allow him to thrive this season. Has received multiple D1 offers, including UC San Diego, Quinnipiac, Tennessee Tech, UMass-Lowell, Tennessee-Chattanooga and Towson University. Plays club ball with Expressions. Spencer Booth (2027) 6’10 power forward– #16 ranked player in Massachusetts by NERR. 2025-26 All Independent School League. Booth has continued to develop into one of the best big men in New England. He is a force in the paint but has been working on being able to stretch the defense more and knocking down shots from deep. Jayden Critchlow (2027) 6'3 guard- Critchlow can handle the ball, make shots and play defense because of his athleticism and length. He will play and cover multiple positions.
Ryan McLaughlin (2027) 6’3 guard – #22 ranked player in Massachusetts by NERR. 2025-26 All Independent School League Honorable Mention. One of MA's captains this season but has been a leader for over a year now. He has the skill set to score at each level. McLaughlin is at his best when he lets the game come to him. He is one of MA's top defenders and has been in all three seasons there. He competes each and every day and sets the tone every practice. Connor Noel (2027) 6’5 small forward - 2025-26 All Independent School League Honorable Mention. Noel has had a great two seasons for MA and the best is yet to come. Nobody at MA has improved as much as Noel has over the past few seasons. Noel has always been an elite shooter but has added explosive finishes at the rim. On the defensive end, he has led MA in block shots the past two seasons and can really guard his position at a high level. Sonny Dellasanta (2028) 6'11 power forward, Milton Academy (MA) - Top New England prospect watch list by NE Basketball Journal. Dellasanta had a great year for MA this past winter. He improved weekly and developed all aspects of his game. He has gotten stronger and more confident on both ends of the floor. He can make shots from distance but he can also lead the break and at 6'11, that makes him a matchup nightmare for almost everyone. Plays club ball with Team New England. CJ McCrae (2028) 5’9 point guard - McCrae had a really good first season with MA. He is a coach's son so he plays the game at a high level from a basketball IQ standpoint. He loves being in the gym and you can tell by his skill level. He is a sharp shooter from beyond the arc. When he attacks the rim he looks to set up teammates or goes to his floater game. He improved the most from start to finish for MA this past season. PH profile
Carter Kahn (2029) 6'3 wing - Kahn is a long wing who can do a variety of things on the court. He continues to improve in all areas of the game which is exciting to see. Kahn has tremendous upside on both sides of the ball.
Colin McLaughlin (2029) 6'4 wing - McLaughlin is an excellent addition to Milton's team this year. He is a high IQ player (son of a coach) who seems to always make the right basketball play. He shoots the ball from deep at a high percentage and is capable of defending multiple positions.
Jake Stanger (2029) 6'3 guard, Milton Academy (MA) - #12 ranked player in New England by Prep Hoops. Stanger's size and strength as a guard makes him a very dangerous threat on the court. He improved from start to finish last year and will be expected to play a major role next winter. Stanger is really accurate from deep and strong enough to attack the paint and finish on bigger defenders. He has improved on the defensive end and also rebounds well from the guard spot. PH profile
