2026-27 MacDuffie School Looks Like a Contender

Founded in 1890, The MacDuffie School is a private, nonsectarian, coeducational college preparatory school for day and boarding students in grades 6–12 and post graduates. The school is located on over 250 acres in Granby, MA.

Their mens basketball team is a college basketball feeder program. Its Prep Team vies annually for a seed in the New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class AA tournament. In doing so, they face some of the toughest prep school competition in the nation. Its Independent team also competes in a college prospect-laden New England Independent Prep League.

Three MacDuffie alumni have played in the NBA, while 10+ others have had professional careers in leagues around the world, including the NBA G League. Three alumni have been selected in the NBA Draft since 2018.

The team is coached by Kurt Steiner and he is assisted by Jared Exler. The coaching staff has been on a steady and impressive program build since taking over the helm in 2023-24

The trend is continuing showing in that the 2026-27 roster is stocked with the attractive college prospects as profiled below.

Andrew Adegbite (2027) 6’5 forward - Adegbite is a hybrid forward with muscle, rebounding, and defensive versatility. Key returner for a MacDuffie squad that won 11 NEPSAC Class AA games in 25-26. Averaged 7 points and 4 rebounds. Earned D2 offers from Millersville and Georgian Court in the spring of 2025. Had a monster season at Pompton Lakes High (NJ) in 24-25. Averaged 19.5 ppg, 15.4 rpg, and 2.8 blk. In 2025, he was an integral of a HGSL 17u Elite 8 team. Adegbite brings tremendous athleticism to both ends of the floor; scoring with authority at the rim as a driver and also proving to be a high level rebounder and shot blocker on the other end of the floor. He's capable of making decision from the top of the key and is also an efficient perimeter shooter in catch and shoot situations. He's a scholarship level prospect and should be a quality commit. Plays club ball with NYC Honor-MHC.  PH profile  RTB profile

Luke Scharff (2027) 6’8 center - A post grad from South Park High (PA) where he earned 2025-26 PIAA 3A Second Team All-State. Scarff is a switchable big who blocks shots, pulls down boards, and finishes above the rim. All time leading scorer at South Park HS (PA). Most points in a single game with 42. Led South Park to first PIAA State Tournament victory since 1999. Earned 2026 PIAA 3A Second Team All-State honors. Averaged a double-double 2025 and 2026 at South Park. Led South Park to the WPIAL Semifinals for the first time since 1999. Scharff finishes at the rim with ease, is a great rebounder and a strong rim protector. His size, length, and timing make him a problem on both ends of the floor. He plays with a high IQ, makes the right reads, and impacts the game without needing the ball every possession. Has been offered by Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Slippery Rock and Seton Hill. Plays club ball with Wildcat Select-3SSB. High gpa   Video highlights

Sage Kennedy (2028) 6’2 shooting guard - A scoring guard who has a plus wingspan, floor spacing ability, and upside as he grows into his body. He plays club ball with BABC. 3.8 gpa   NERR profile  PH profile

Darien Rudder (2028) 5'11 point guard - Rudder is a facilitating guard with floor spacing, offensive rebounding, and pesky on-ball defense. One of the more productive sophomores in NEPSAC Class AA during 2025-26. 20 points in a win against NMH, 19 points in a win against Bridgton, and 19 points in a win against Mount Saint Charles. 41% from three and 82% from the foul line in 25-26. Rudder is built like a brick and does an excellent job operating in the pick and roll. He plays with good pace and change of speed, and he has a knack for getting the defender in jail and making decisions from advantageous positions. He also shoots the three ball and moves well without the ball. Defensively, he slides his feet well and wants to be physical. Plays club ball with BABC 16u-3SSB. Daniel Wheeler (2028) 6’4 small forward - Wheeler is a smooth shooting wing with intellect, toughness, and sneaky explosiveness. Additional 2028 returner who had his moments during the 2025-26 season. Averaged 10.5 points in MacDuffie’s last six games. 13 points against St. Andrew's, 14 points against Brimmer, and 22 points against Winchendon. Standout two years at Longmeadow High (MA), averaging 12 points as a freshman and 20 points as a sophomore. A tough shot maker that has added size and strength to be an impact defender and rebounder. His quick decision making and his understanding of how to fill a role are assets. He plays off the ball and shoots it whenever he's open. He has a really nice release, but he can also attack closeouts and be creative in the lane. Plays club ball with Team Sims-UAA. 4.1 gpa  Video highlights  NERR profile  PH profile

Xavier McCall (2029) 6’6 center - #11 ranked player in New England by Prep Hoops. McCall has a chance to be one of the better young forwards in the region with his combination of athleticism, power, and skill. He is powerful, with good mobility and fluid movements in space. He's already an above-the-rim athlete, does a nice job of rolling hard to the rim out of ball screens, and can initiate from the perimeter at a straightline driver. While he lacks traditional paint presence size, his strength stands out around the rim on both ends of the floor. He's a plus rebounder, can wall up in the post without fouling, and knows how to finish through contact on the other end. Earned a rotation spot as a freshman before an injury ended his season. Impressive performances in early season wins against NMH and Wilbraham & Monson. From a basketball family. His dad, Zachary played at Marquette and brother Devonte currently plays professionally in Germany. Plays club ball with BABC 15u-3SSB.   NERR profile    PH profile
