2026-27 CP Next Level Academy (GA) Deep Talent in the Deep South

CP Next Level Academy is an online-degree high school basketball program in Alpharetta, GA, where former NBA pro Chuck Person is the head coach. The academy emphasizes player skill enhancement, with Person leading training sessions. Person excelled as a player at Auburn, becoming the program's all-time leading scorer with 2,311 points over four seasons from 1982 to 1986, and helped the Tigers to their first three NCAA Tournament appearances. Selected fourth overall by the Indiana Pacers in the 1986 draft, he won Rookie of the Year in 1987 and played 14 seasons across five teams. He was a prolific and famously confident outside shooter — a stretch forward before the term existed. His coaching resume includes being the Associate Head Coach at Auburn in 2014 under Bruce Pearl, contributing to the program's resurgence. Before that he'd worked as an NBA assistant for over a decade.

The CP Next Level program runs both an AAU team, Team Person and an in-season prep team as Next Level Academy.

The prep team plays a competitive schedule against other top preps, JuCos and small colleges. Last season they went18-13 across 31 games and finished computer-ranked in the nation's Top 60 teams.

The team is assistant coached by Jamal McClure, the director of the Team Person AAU program. Coaches Person and Mclure will be running with the 2026-27 players are profiled below.

Lorenzo Mccorvey 2027 6’6 point guard (6’11 wingspan)  - A versatile, high-level guard with a strong combination of size, skill, and athleticism. McCorvey is a tough competitor who can create his own shot and attack the basket with strength. Excellent in transition and a high-level finisher around the rim. Can play on and off the ball while making plays for himself and others. Strong rebounder for his position and capable defender who can guard multiple positions. McCorvey brings toughness, versatility, and a high motor on both ends of the floor. Strong student-athlete with high-level potential. Holds Division I interest and plays club basketball with Team Person.

Chris Person (2027) 6’8 center (6’11 wingspan) - Person has a High-motor, very agile for his size, and quick off the floor for rebounds and blocks.Excellent spatial awareness; reads double-teams fast and finds open cutters. Finishes efficiently around the rim, alters shots consistently in the paint, and runs the floor well in transition.

Trey Smith (2027) 6’1 shooting guard (6’4 wingspan) - A reliable, high-energy guard who impacts the game on both ends of the floor. Smith has excellent court vision and playmaking ability, consistently creating opportunities for his teammates. Aggressive downhill attacker who can get into the paint and finish above the rim. Comfortable handling the ball, making plays in transition, and knocking down open shots. Smith brings toughness and energy defensively, with the ability to be disruptive as an on-ball defender. A competitive guard who makes winning plays and brings consistent effort every time he steps on the floor. Plays club basketball with Team Person. 

Jamai Mcclure (2028) 6’5 shooting guard (6’9 wingspan) - A long and skilled SG with a high-level shooting touch. McClure is a consistent threat from beyond the arc and has the ability to space the floor and knock down shots at a high rate. He plays well within the flow of the offense and can contribute without needing to dominate the basketball. Uses his length effectively on the defensive end and can be disruptive against opposing scorers. McClure has shown the ability to produce at a high level for Team Person and continues to develop into a promising 2028 prospect. 

Cordell Nelson (2028) 6’9 center (6’11 wingspan) - A returning starter. Nelson is a skilled post player with good touch around the rim and the ability to step out and stretch the floor with the three-point jumper. Athletic big who runs the floor well in transition and can finish plays above the rim. Shows a physical presence inside, including the ability to drop-step and dunk over defenders if given the space or mismatch. Strong student athlete. Plays for Next Level Academy. Receiving notable offers from Rider University and Troy University.

Ayden Thomas (2028) 6’1 point guard (6’5 wingspan) - A quick and shifty point guard who can create offense at a high level. Thomas has excellent speed and change of direction, allowing him to blow by defenders and consistently get paint touches. A confident shooter with range and accuracy who can knock down shots from deep. Strong playmaker with excellent court vision and the ability to get his bigs involved. Thomas can control the tempo, create for teammates, and make plays with the ball in his hands. Also brings toughness and activity on the defensive end. Thomas had a strong summer with Team Person, averaging 20 points and six assists at the Elite 32.

Jelani Cadette (2029) 6’2 shooting guard (6’4 wingspan) - Cadette is a lefty shooting guard that is an elite ball handler, is a savvy decision maker, has touch around the rim and is a high-level defender. He defends and competes on both ends, He gets downhill into the paint, initiates contact, is active on the glass, and plays with a high motor. His poise, maturity and confidence add to the list of his traits as an emerging prospect that should be tracked in the 2029 class. 

Ethan Anderson (2029) 6’4 shooting guard (6’8 wingspan) - A dynamic two-way guard with exceptional size, length and versatility for his class. A legitimate three-level scoring threat, He attacks closeouts, handles against pressure, makes good decisions off the bounce, and creates advantages without dominating the basketball. Defensively, his length, athleticism and competitiveness allow him to guard positions 1–4. Uses his size and athletic abilities to disrupt offenses with deflections and is a constant presence on the offensive and defensive boards.

Keegan Pringle 6’3 shooting guard (6’7 wingspan) - Pringle is a very quick guard with tight handle and ability to get into lane. Excellent in open floor. High level 3 point shooter. Tough on ball defender and gritty rebounder. Pringle can play on and off the ball. Can guard bigger guards. Pringle is a tough competitor. Strong student. Plays club ball for Team Person.

Kaiden Wiliams 6’0 point guard (6’2 wingspan) - Williams is a versatile, high-motor guard known for his elite shooting stroke, defensive versatility, and ability to create off the dribble. A two-way player with a smooth mid-range game and improving three-point consistency, he has quickly established himself as a reliable scorer and secondary playmaker.
