
2025-26 Phelps School Has National Level Talent
Founded in 1946, The Phelps School is an independent, all-boys boarding school in Malvern, PA. It serves grades six through twelve and post-graduate students wiith approximately 100 students.
Their mens basketball program is college basketball feeder program. The Phelps program sets up students-athletes for future success in college basketball programs through exposure to college recruiters and competing against high level competition.The National team annually vies for a seed the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association Tournaments. They won this highly competitive tournament in 2015 and again last year. Two seasons ago they adavnced to the Elite 8 of the National Prep Championship tournament.

The team is coached by Trey Morin. Morin coached successfully at The Phelps School for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons. He went then moved to St. Andrew's Episcopal School (PA) where he had three successful seasons. Phelps then brought him back to be the Athletic Director and the Director of Basketball. Prior to those stints, Morin was an assistant coach at Bates College, Colby-Sawyer College and Bradford Christian Academy. He was also the Co-Director of the New England Playmakers AAU program. Morin played basketball collegiately at Salem State University (MA). Following that, Coach Morin was a Graduate Assistant at Merrimack College.

Zak Bah (2026) 6’5 guard - Wiry scorer who can score in a ton of ways. Fluid athlete who can play on or off the ball, and an emerging defender with his length and size. Still young, a PG who is still 17. Receiving D1 and D2 interest. Plays AAU with Marstens Elite
Corey Baylor (2026) 5'10 guard - (Bowdoin College commit) Impact scorer who can fill it up from three and mid range. Canplay on and off the ball with great feel to put the ball in the hoop. Exciting to watch, especially when he is rolling. Plays AAU for Philly Pride-HGSL.
Xavier Blake (2026) 6’5 guard - Elite scorer who creates baskets in a janky and herky jerky manor. Very difficult to stay in front of, especially going left. Great length and size for his position who is also very adept at making read in the pick and roll with space. Has received D1 offers from the Big East to the MAAC. Plays AAU for UPLAY-EYCL
Nico Esposito (2026) 6'6 wing - Shot maker who has grown 9 inches in the last two years. Tremendous with space with size to get shots off in a variety of ways. Improving his body, as the growth has made him thinner, but has begun to put on mass. Competes defensively and can guard a number of positions with his fluidity. Receiving interest from Ivy, D2, and Academic D3s. Plays AAU for Marstons Elite.
Caden Ivery (2027) 6'5 guard - High level defender who lives in passing lanes with his anticipation and awareness. Above the rim athlete who can rise up and finish with a number of different solutions. Improving jumpshot, that with space will go in, lives in the mid range with pull ups. Plays AAU for Ohio Buckets EYCL. Receiving interest from all levels of D1. Can go to 2028
Kaamil Jackson (2026) 6’7 forward - Raw but rapidly improving, and an interesting prospect. Injuries have cost him some time, but he has already made a couple of jumps since arriving for Prep School. Athlete, runner, jumper, who can make a stand still three, but thrives in transition. Swiss army defender who with added strength has potential to be extremely useful in college. Receiving interest from D2 and D3
Chris Kingkiner (2026) 6'0 guard - Heady and fast twitch guard who can get in the lane and make plays for both himself and others. High level catch and shoot player who has the ability to get hot quickly. Can go to 2027, and receiving interest from a variety of colleges and levels.
David Maddrey-Rylander (2026) 6’1 guard - Herky jerky lefty that is reminiscent of Malcom Wrisby-Jefferson who is a starter at Brown. Elite level feel both offensively and defensively. Adept at driving close outs and making the right read. Great length and hands to help him impact the game. Receiving interest from D3s. Plays AAU for Berks Warriors.
Alex Mounsey (2026) 6’6 forward - PG from Monteverde who is a man, even at the prep level. Big shoulders to carve out space and a skill set that is impressive. Can make midrange shots and threes at a high level, and has the awareness and ability to guard four positions. His no-nonsense approach has served him well, and has a great competitive nature about him. Receiving interest from D1 to D3 schools. High gpa
Abdi Sharif (2026) 6’3 guard - An under-the-radar Post-Grad who is coming to Phelps after a storied high school career in Vermont. Above average athlete who can score both at the rim and from three, creating baskets with his strong frame. Capable defender, as he moves his feet well and has the ability to withstand drives with his body. Receiving D2 and D3 interests. Plays AAU for Blueprint.
Nate Shillingford (2026) 6’4 small forward - A Draymond Green mold player, who is a winner in every sense of the word. Can guard all five positions due to his quickness and strength to stay with handlers, and wedge out bigs on the block. Can make shots from three, and is a glue guy who can connect offenses not typically seen in high school. Receiving recruitment from NESCAC and CCA schools. Plays AAU for Marston Elite. High gpa
Tyson Smith (2026) 6’2 guard - Big body guard who has an impressive skill set and is a surprising athlete. Dunks in transition, and is a willing passer who is a quick processor of plays. Shoots it well enough from three, and can get hot quickly.
Isiah Thomas (2026) 6’3 guard - 3 and D guard who can fit in almost any system and level. Athlete who led MADE Hoops circuit in total blocks. Heady and mature game. If you value connectors, defenders and shooting, he is your guy. Plays AAU for East Coast Cyclones. Has been offered by Manhattan, receiving D1 interest from American East and CAA schools as well.
Jahrel Vigo (2026) 6’2 guard - Winner. Makes plays that contribute to winning like almost no other player Coach Morin has seen. Feel and athletic ability that is a rare combination, and will average close to 4 steals a game at our level. Can be a primary handler, or play off the ball, shot 66% and 60% in high school and AAU respectively. Great passer in transition and out of pick and roll, with highlight finishes at the rim. Almost no school should pass on taking him because of his impact on and off the court. Has received offers from MAAC and CAA schools. Plays AAU for Team Final Red.
Nemo Niu (2027) 6’8 wing - High level shot maker who is coming into his own going in to his third year in the states. In close out situations he is difficult to guard because of his vast offensive arsenal. Has made a massive jump defensively, and rebounded extremely well in June and July. Projected as a definite D1 academic prospect, and is receiving that in recruitment.
Yoni Sulemon (2027) 6’4 wing - Athlete who can really get out in transition. New to the States so will make a big jump in the next two years, especially with his body. Long thin frame, but is not frail or soft on the ball. Capable shot maker, who can effect the game in a multiple ways.
Brandon Martin (2028) 6’7 forward - Athlete who is oozing with potential, and beginning to put it together. Great physical size and frame, and a developing skill set. Gamer who can make shots, rebound, and defend in high level prep games. Competitive nature naturally will allow him to continue to develop in our ecosystem. One of the first guys in the gym every time. Receiving interest from all levels of D1. Plays AAU for Wildcat Select.
Manny Velero-Melo (2028) 6’6 guard - Extremely high level prospect who is going to make a name for himself nationally soon. Elite of the elite level shooter, who can create off the bounce with a prototype frame. Will command a lot of attention at our level, even as a sophomore. Has been offered by TCU and LaSalle. Plays AAU for New Heights.
Demitrius Woodard (2028) 6’4 guard - Athlete who when he hits go is as good as anyone from point A to point B in his class. Long and rangey who Coach Morin is excited to get in the program and see where he can go in three years. Good catch and shoot player who can finish at the rim in a lot of ways, but right now is as good as anyone in transition. Projected D1 player. Plays AAU for Uplay-EYBL.
Moon Yue (2028) 6’10 forward - One of the most unique and underrated players in his class. Creative passer who will be a hub offensively, with timing and anticipation you cannot teach. Can throw all types of passes, and makes a ton of shots from three. Emerging nationally, and has dropped 20lbs this summer with the Chinese national team. Projected D1 player. Plays AAU for New Heights.
Bekay Koffi (2029) 6’3 guard - High level athlete who is already a high level defender at the Prep level. Evolving skill set that will continue to progress as he plays at this level. Mature frame with both size and strength. Plays AAU for Uplay-EYBL.
