Lakeview Basketball Academy Attracts Top Tier Talent

Lakeview Basketball Academy is a post graduate basketball program located in Umatilla, Florida, about 35 miles inland from downtown Orlando. Their aim is to attract top-tier talent from across the country and around the world, united by a shared desire to chase their dreams and unlock their full potential in basketball. The mission is to provide a premier post-graduate basketball experience that enables talented athletes to elevate their game to the next level. With a focus on year-round skill development, strategic gameplay, and character growth, they aim to prepare the players for success in collegiate and professional basketball arenas. Alumni span all around the country at all different levels, with the achievement of sending every player on roster to college the past 2 seasons.

The team competes in the Florida Sun Basketball Conference and vies for high post season seeding for both the FSBC divisional and state championship tournaments. They also play in a number of showcases and finish their season at the Big Shots Prep Nationals in Rock Hill, SC.

The team is led by Coach Douglas Leichner. Coach Leichner has over 30 years of experience coaching, and this will be his 6th in Post Grad. Coach Leichner has coached at multiple NCAA programs, including Iona College and the University of Maine. At the NCAA level, he built some of the strongest defensive teams in Division 1, had multiple winning seasons, and recruited several high-impact players. He also boosts a highly decorated overseas coaching record. Leading Great Britian U20 National Team to unseen success, helping Guangzhou Long Lions to their winningest season, and UCC Demons to a Treble.

The associate head coach is Rodney Jackson and the assistant coach is Jack Curran. Their roles in the program include recruiting players to LBA, and placing players at the college level. Implementing the offensive and defensive philosophy, as well as scouting reports and video analysis. Day to day, they run daily skill development sessions, and S&C, as well as dorm supervision and scheduling.

#1 Chris Finks (2026) 6’0 guard – From Atlantic City NJ – Finks is an explosive and physical guard who can change an entire game. He uses his first step to blow by opponents and finishes strong around the basket, and keeps defenses honest with his 3pt shooting ability. #2 Tómas Thomasson (2026) 6’0 guard – From Valur, Reykjavik, Iceland – Thomasson brings pro experience and an elite PG IQ to the floor. With his strong frame, he manipulates defenses and sets up teammates for wide open looks, while also being able to knock down 3s at a high level. #3 Rokas Liucvaikis (2026) 6’5 wing – From Dublin Lions, Dublin, Ireland – Liucvaikis is an elite level athlete, allowing him to be a 2-way threat. He flies up and down the court, and attacks aggressively downhill. Steps out the 3 and knocks down a high percentage. #4 Lennon Nagle (2026) 5’11 guard – From NCC London Lions, Essex, England – Nagle provides immense value as a 3&D player. A master at relocating, he always manages to sneak himself open, and hits big shots. Defensively he will pester the opposition. #6 Lennox Collinson (2026) 6’6 forward – From Wellington Saints, Wellington, New Zealand –  Collinson is a do-it-all forward, who contributes all over the floor. He has a high IQ, and pro level mindset from his time with the Saints. He rebounds and provides big defensive output. #7 Hashim Abukar (2026) 6’7 wing – From London Elite, London, England – Abukar is an elite level shooter with great length on the perimeter. Additionally, he also makes smart decisions offensively. #8 Taiga Shibasaki (2026) 5’9 guard – From Tokyo Samurai, Tokyo, Japan – Shibasaki is a high-level playmaker, who sets the offense and sets up his teammates. He is always scanning the floor, and sees every available option on the floor. A lightening quick guard, defenses struggle to take the ball from him, leading to a great A/TO ratio. #9 Brian Duckworth (2026) 6’4 guard – From Counties Manukau, Auckland, New Zealand – Duckworth is an athletic guard who plays both sides of the ball. He has the ability to guard 1-3, and can also play these positions offensively. He can attack downhill and finish, kick to the open man on overhelp, while also being able to step out and hit from 3. #10 Owen Molto (2026) 6’7 center – From Burlington Central, Burlington, Canada – Molto has a great nose for the ball, tracking down rebounds like a mad man on both sides of the ball, creating multiple extra possessions. #22 Gavin Unwin (2026) 6’4 wing – From Holy Cross, Waterbury, CT – Unwin is a long, athletic wing with a 6’7 wingspan. He is a low usage, high production player. Being able to be a point of attack defender on the perimeter, a threat in transition, while also hitting 3s. He uses his athleticism and wingspan to be disruptive defensively, and get on the boards. #23 Darren Izekor (2026) 6’8 center – From Dublin Lions, Westmeath, Ireland – Izekor is a mobile, physical center with lots of potential to grow into. He is 240lbs with a 7’ wingspan, and still possesses great athleticism, being able to rim run and get on the rim. He protects the rim well, and cleans up the boards both sides of the ball. #44 Brenden Shaw (2026) 6’5 guard– From Orlando, FL – Shaw is a dynamic offensive guard, capable of scoring in multiple ways, and stepping up in big moments. He can score from all 3 levels, and has a high IQ and is a vocal leader. #55 Christian Airoboma (2026) 6’10 center – From Carmel College, Liverpool, England – Airobomais a physically imposing big, with his 7’5 wingspan, and strength. He has polished footwork in the post, being able to dominate downlow and draw double teams, with the ability to kick to the open man. He sets tough screens, and has great hands to catch and finish the roll. Does a great job protecting the rim defensively, while also being a help defender. Controlling the boards too.
